Report Renewal Project

The IESO has discontinued the development of the re-engineered reports under this project for reasons described at the IT Standing Committee meeting on November 10, 2004.
The report renewal project is designed to enhance the way the IESO's reports are produced by streamlining public and confidential reports as well as reducing the cost and complexity currently involved in report generation.

To modernize the format, XML technology will be employed thereby allowing alternative data formatting to be more readily rolled out via specialized style sheets.

Stakeholdering input from report users is required on the content and format of the reports to optimize their usability. Once stakeholdering input has been received and the design changes are completed, the project will result in:

• a standard facility for the creation and publication of all production reports
• the production of both machine and human readable formats, thus eliminating data discrepancies between both formats
• the decommissioning of existing production reporting facilities
• the reduction of costs associated with producing, publishing and managing reports through the standardized XML format
• the ability of end XML users to create their own "views" of the data
• simplified and rapid diagnostic activities
• the creation of a report archiving functionality
• the removal of various reporting platforms resulting in considerable software license cost savings

The report inventory provides a list of all the reports involved in the conversion to XML. The Report Group Transition page tracks each of the report groups as they undergo conversion to XML, listing versions of current reports (in both html and csv) as well as updated versions incorporating stakeholder input.

A number of presentations on the report renewal project have been made to both the Market Operations Standing Committee (MOSC) and the Information Technology Standing Committee (ITSC)
