Meeting at the IESO with Natural Gas Fired Generators on October 4th
September 26, 2007
The IESO has hired Baden Energy Consulting Ltd (BECL) to conduct analysis of how the proposed Option 3 day-ahead mechanism would impact the operation of a gas-fired generation facility. This study will look at a gas fired generator's ability to coordinate its natural gas and electricity operations, and will quantify the efficiency impacts associated with any identified improvements. This analysis will also form part of the cost-benefit analysis http://www.ieso.ca/imoweb/pubs/consult/se21/se21-20070926-Item_6-CBA.pdf.
Greg Baden and Lucie Tomson of BECL would like to meet with those stakeholders involved in natural gas scheduling and electricity production to discuss their proposed research. The meeting will provide the key affected stakeholders with an opportunity to provide input and advice on the proposed methodology.
This meeting will be on Thursday, October 4th, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the IESO office in Mississauga. Please send an email to stakeholder.engagement@ieso.ca if you would like to attend this meeting.
More details on the stakeholder initiatives for the day-ahead market, including a discussion paper that outlines options for a Day-Ahead Market (DAM) can be found at http://www.ieso.ca/imoweb/consult/consult_se21.asp
