Chapter 6 of the Market Rules provides a framework for revenue metering in the wholesale electricity marketplace, specifying the obligations of the metered market participant, the metering service provider and the IESO.

Registration of Metering Installations
The metered market participant is responsible for installing and maintaining the metering, the accuracy and reliability of the metering data, and for the security of the metering data on-site. Meters used for settlement in the IESO-administered markets must be registered with the IESO.

The Conforming Meter List provides a catalogue of the manufacturers and meters accepted by the IESO, and the Wholesale Revenue Metering Standard - Hardware (PDF) details the requirements for metering installations for use in the IESO-Administered market.

Metering Service Providers carry out the specialized work of installing and maintaining metering installations. The metered market participant and the Metering Service Provider are free to make any suitable commercial arrangement. A metered market participant may also register as a Metering Service Provider.

The Market Rules require each metering service provider to register with the IESO. To apply for registration, applicants must follow the Metering Service Provider (MSP) Registration, Revocation and De-registration (PDF: 407KB), complete the MSP Application Form (PDF: 252KB) and the Metering Service Provider Agreement (DOC: 632KB).

The following is a list of registered Metering Service Providers that have satisfied the requirements specified in the Market Rules and the MSP Registration Procedure.
