On December 20, 2001 the IESO initiated a consultation on the evolution of the market with the publication of the document "Setting Priorities for the Evolution of the Market Design".

Consultation � Phase 1

On January 22, 2002, the IESO hosted a stakeholder workshop on market development priorities for the medium and long term. Over one hundred market participants and other stakeholders attended the workshop where they provided comments during an "open-mike" session and completed "Priority Ballots" to indicate their priorities for future market development.

Several market participants and stakeholders provided written submissions prior to the January 22, 2002 Stakeholder workshop.

Results

On March 27, 2002 the IESO published the document "Participant Priorities for Future Market Development" summarising the input provided by market participants and other stakeholders.

Initial Announcement

On July 15, 2002 the IESO announced the inaugural meeting of the Market Advisory Council that will include discussions on the evolution of the IESO-administered markets.

Follow-up Announcement and Supporting Material

On August 7, the IESO issued a Straw-Plan for the Evolution of the Ontario Market Design to serve as a focus for discussion and comments at the Market Advisory Council Meeting on August 13.

On November 26, 2002 the IESO held the second Market Advisory Council meeting which included breakout sessions on the following topics: Day-Ahead Market, Locational Marginal Pricing, Resource Adequacy and Demand Side Response.
